Meeting with the representatives of the project "Strengthening the rule of law and anti-corruption mechanisms in the Republic of Moldova", implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation

The implementation of joint activities within the project "Strengthening the rule of law and anti-corruption mechanisms in the Republic of Moldova", implemented by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ), was the purpose of the meeting of the ad interim Director of NIJ, Ecaterina Popa, with the project manager, Janine Baudach, and the advisers in the field of anti-corruption and integrity policies – Olga Crivoliubic and Victor Bufteac. The event took place at the National Institute of Justice on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 25, 2023. On behalf of the NIJ, the meeting was also attended by Cezara-Elena Polisca, Head of the didactic-methodical and training of trainers section, Ion Bocan, Head of the continuous training section, and Armen Oganesean, prosecutor, NIJ trainer.

The main topics discussed during the meeting referred to the strengthening institutional capacities to investigate cases of petty and systemic corruption and drawing up joint action plans in the training segment in this field. Thus, depending on the legislative changes, the proposed activities will include, inter alia, the evaluation of the training programs and their modification in line with current requirements; the development of a continuous training system for police officers and prosecutors from territorial offices; the piloting of a series of trainings in three regions (North, Center, South) with project experts; the training of trainers to deliver trainings based on the new programs; training courses for soft skills (management and leadership) for heads of territorial prosecutor's offices and regional police inspectorates, etc.

The project "Strengthening the rule of law and anti-corruption mechanisms in the Republic of Moldova" aims to support the Government of the Republic of Moldova in defining the mandate and powers of law enforcement and prosecution institutions to fight corruption at all levels and is implemented by GIZ with the financial support of the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
