The Director of the National Institute of Justice, Ramona Strugariu, participated as a special guest at the conference “Women Transforming Justice – dialogues on courage, safety, and solidarity,” held on November 7, 2025.

The event was organized by UN Women Moldova, in partnership with the Superior Council of Magistracy, the Superior Council of Prosecutors, and the Union of Lawyers of the Republic of Moldova, within the framework of the program “Enhanced Women’s Leadership for Resilient and Peaceful Societies,” funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

The conference served as a platform for inspiration and action, grounded in the experiences of the participants, and focused on addressing systemic barriers, promoting gender equality, and strengthening the professional safety of women in the field of justice.

In her address, Ramona Strugariu emphasized the need to implement institutional policies that ensure protection, balance, and respect for women within the justice system. In this context, the National Institute of Justice, with the support of UN Women, has developed a comprehensive policy document aimed at regulating the processes of preventing, investigating, and sanctioning discrimination, harassment, and sexual harassment.

“If we do not have policy documents and regulations that clarify these issues, that address both prevention and the balance between professional and personal life, and that set clear sanctions when such situations occur, unfortunately, it becomes much harder to ensure a safe working environment,” stated the Director of the National Institute of Justice.
