Awareness-raising activity for trainees: Combating Gender-Based Violence and the LGBTQI + Community

The trainees of the National Institute of Justice participated on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, in an awareness-raising activity on combating gender-based violence and the LGBTQI+ community.

Speakers – Olga Marandici, head of the International Relations Section, NIJ, and Leo Zbanca, filmmaker, screenwriter, psychologist, trainer, transgender person, provided information on the types of violence, specific notions and problems faced by LGBTQI + people: discrimination, violence and hate speech based on sexual orientation, identity or expression and sexual characteristics.

They also answered questions that arose during the presentations and that focused on human rights, equality, social inclusion, prevention of gender-based violence and other rights abuses of LGBTQI + persons.

Awareness-raising activity is part of the international training program „Prevention and response to gender-based violence – strengthening of change agents”, implemented by the Swedish Police Authority in collaboration with the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation, with the financial support of the Swedish Agency for International Development Cooperation (SIDA).
