The final Steering Committee meeting of the CoE Project on Combating discrimination took place

The 4th final meeting of the Steering Committee of the National Project „Strengthening the capacities of the justice sector actors to deliver justice in line with European standards, in particular to fight discrimination in the Republic of Moldova” took place on Monday, February 20, 2023. The purpose of the meeting was to present and analyze the results obtained and the lessons learned during the implementation of the project.

At the event the National Institute of Justice was represented by Ecaterina Popa, ad interim director, and Cezara-Elena Polisca, advisor to the Director, head of the training of trainers and didactics methodological Section. In her speech, Ecaterina Popa noted that the Council of Europe is the key partner of the National Institute of Justice from the moment the institution was founded, and the joint activities organized for the NIJ beneficiaries have a positive impact on their professional development. Thus, during 2019-2023, there were held multiple ongoing training seminars, repeated running of the HELP online course, thematic schools for trainers, which covered various aspects related to the vast field of non-discrimination. Also, a special attention has been paid to the impact assessment of trainings, the training of trainers to enhance the interactivity of judicial training in the classroom and online, the development of skills using andragogical teaching methods, as well as the certification of nine national HELP tutors.

The CoE project „Strengthening the capacities of the justice sector actors to deliver justice in line with European standards, in particular to fight discrimination in the Republic of Moldova” aimed at aligning the national justice system to European standards in the field of discrimination and strengthening the capacities of the actors in the justice sector to achieve high quality act in cases of discrimination. The 46-month project program was carried out in partnership with the National Institute of Justice, the Council for Preventing and Eliminating Discrimination and Ensuring Equality and the Training Centre for Lawyers, within the Joint Program of the European Union and the Council of Europe “Partnership for good Governance 2019-2022”.
