Meeting with representatives of the CoE project „Preventing and protecting children from violence, including in the digital environment in the Republic of Moldova”

Thursday, on 16 June 2022, the National Institute of Justice was visited by representatives of the Council of Europe project „Preventing and protecting children from violence including in the digital environment in the Republic of Moldova” - Ovidiu Majina, project coordinator, and Angelica Russu, senior project officer.

On this occasion, the ad interim Director of the National Institute of Justice, Mrs. Ecaterina Popa, highlighted openness towards the implementation of joint actions under the project, with the stipulation that, through coordination, they should avoid overlapping with activities carried out with NIJ partners on the particular segment. The protection of children against abuse of any kind is one of the Institute's priorities in national government policies, and this collaboration will contribute to improve the quality of justice.

For his part, Ovidiu Majina, announced the components of the project addressing two outcomes: first one, the protection of children from online sexual exploitation and abuse, and the second one protection of children from violence, including sexual exploitation and abuse.

Furthermore, the dialogue aimed to carry out concrete training actions, including a thematic school and several seminars for mixed groups of beneficiaries: judges, prosecutors, legal aid lawyers, criminal investigators.

The meeting was also attended by Ion Chirtoaca, NIJ trainer, judge, and Marina Leu, ad interim head of the Continuous Training Section of the National Institute of Justice.
