On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, experts from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) visited the National Institute of Justice. The delegation, including Monica Castillejos-Aragon, Pelagia Patsoule, Francesco Alfonso and Clara Le Cannellier, met with representatives of the National Institute of Justice - Adrian Cerbu, Ad interim Director, Ecaterina Popa, Head of the training and research Department, and Tatiana Ciaglic, Head of the legal information Center.
The discussions centered on key aspects of the initial training processes and continuous training of judges and prosecutors. Thus, the experts expressed a particular interest in the content and structure of the curricula, as well as in the ways of providing training on sensitive areas for the judiciary: professional ethics and deontology, integrity, anti-corruption, etc.
Also, the usefulness of organizing training sessions and thematic schools to contribute to the development of specialized skills of the Institute's beneficiaries was discussed.
Experts from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development are in Chisinau this week to assess the current state of the justice sector in several meetings with relevant public authorities. The mission, an integral part of the project "Supporting Justice Sector Reforms in the Republic of Moldova", co-funded by the European Union and implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, aims to provide a clear picture of how the judiciary contributes to strengthening democracy and ensuring respect for the rule of law.
