Strengthening regional cooperation in the fight against corruption and the recovery of criminal assets was one of the objectives of the working visit to Romania of representatives and experts from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Moldova and Serbia. From the National Institute of Justice, at the working visit that took place between 4-6 December 2018, in Bucharest was delegated to participate Alexandra Nica, Head of the Training and research division.

During the visit, the participants had the opportunity to visit several institutions in Romania: National Agency for the Management of Seized Assets, Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism, National Anticorruption Directorate and General Prosecutor’s Office. This has enabled them to familiarize themselves with effective tools and methods for investigating corruption offenses and recovering criminal assets in the Southeastern Europe and to exchange good practice in the field. At the same time, it was discussed the necessity of organizing regional trainings in the future involving the magistrates' schools.

The working visit took place within the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative “Strengthening Anti-Corruption Activities in the South East Europe by Improving Asset Seizure Measures", being a continuation of the project completed in March this year. We would like to mention that at the closing conference of the project participated a representative of the National Institute of Justice - Dumitru Obada, the head of the Didactical-methodical and training of trainers section, detached prosecutor.
