Conference "The Evolution of European Union Law - Dialogue between the EU Court of Justice and the Constitutional Courts"

On Friday, 30 September 2022, five NIJ trainers attended the conference "The Evolution of European Union Law – The dialogue between the EU Court of Justice and the Constitutional Courts", on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the National Institute of Magistracy (NIM) in Bucharest.

The delegation was formed by Aliona Miron, judge at the Supreme Court of Justice, Ghenadie Mîra, member of the Council of the NIJ, judge at the Chisinau Court of Appeal, Angela Bostan, judge at the Chisinau Court of Appeal, Violeta Chiselița, judge at the Chisinau Court, Office Riscani, and Nicolae Fală, lawyer.

The agenda of the event included topics related to judicial cooperation and the pre-trial procedure; the fundamental role of the High Court of Cassation and Justice and other courts, as national and European courts; the importance of national magistrates' knowledge of EU law and the role of the NIM in this context; interaction between judges: shared responsibility for the protection of the human rights, etc.

The participation of NIJ trainers at the anniversary conference took place within the project ”Strengthening the justice system by organizing expertise transfer missions addressed to judges and prosecutors from the Republic of Moldova”, implemented by the National Institute of Magistracy due to the support of the Agency for International Development Cooperation  (RoAid), under the coordination of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, due to the support provided for the judicial system reform. The cooperation directions of the project concern the involvement of judges and prosecutors from the Republic of Moldova in professional development activities organized by the NIM, study visits to institutions within the Romanian judicial system, as well as the invitation as experts of NIM trainers to trainings for Moldovan magistrates.
