The Director of the NIJ participated online in the General Assembly of the EJTN

On Friday, June 19, 2020, the Director of the National Institute of Justice, Diana Scobioala, participated online in the General Assembly of the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN) of magistracy schools in the Member States of the European Union.

The representatives of the European magistracy institutions and international organizations in the field of justice were greeted by Duro Sessa, Judge, President of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia, Andrea Posavec Franić, President of the General Assembly, the Director of the Judicial Academy of Croatia, Didier Reynders, the European Commissioner for Justice, and Markus Brückner, the EJTN Secretary General, Judge.

During the event, various aspects of the Network's activity in the current year were discussed, as well as the actions planned in the future. Particular emphasis was placed on the impact of the epidemiological crisis caused by Covid-19 on the training activities. Also, were presented the annual report of the Steering Committee, the decision on the upgrade of the Sub-Working Group Linguistic into a Working Group Linguistic, the composition and the applications for membership in the newly created Working Group Linguistic, as well as the plan to hold a Directors Conference or an extraordinary General Assembly in autumn, 2020.

The General Assembly of the Network is in its XXIII edition, being organized by EJTN in partnership with the Judicial Academy of Croatia.

The National Institute of Justice became an observer member of the European Judicial Training Network of magistracy schools in the Member States of the European Union on July first, 2016, with the entry into force of the Association Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union. The application for observer status was approved by the General Assembly of the Network, which held its proceedings in Thessaloniki, Greece, on 12 and 13 of June, 2014.
