Ensuring a fair and an efficient environmental justice a concern for judges, prosecutors and representatives of environmental authorities

National Institute of Justice and EcoContact carry out a new series of trainings in order to promote and ensure a fair and an efficient environmental justice. A group of judges, prosecutors and representatives of environmental authorities participated in a training ,,The particularities of the investigation and examination of environmental crimes” on October 21, 2022.

The event started with greetings from the organizers, Tatiana Echim, EcoContact project manager and Ecaterina Popa ad interim Director of the National Institute of Justice., followed by the training programme facilitated by the trainers Victor Dumneanu, deputy Chief of the Environmental Protection Inspectorate, Ion Chirtoacă, NIJ Trainer, judge, Aurelia Donos from the State Enterprise Hydro - Geological Expedition from Moldova, Andrei Ursache, an expert in the area as well as by the EcoContact’s consultants – Ana Cazacu, Irina Punga and Ion Marin.

During the training day, beneficiaries were familiarized with the current situation regarding the investigation and ascertaining contraventions on environmental offences, the mode of presentation the environmental cases in front of the court, the peculiarities of investigation ecological offences in the area of soil and subsoil management, of hunting, of water resources and forest fund management.

Another seminar ,,Impact evaluation on the environment – implementation of legal aspects” will take place on October 28, 2022 and will be sustained by the Iordanca – Rodica Iordanov, state secretary at the Ministry of Environment, Valentin Rosca, PhD in law, as well as by the EcoContact`s representatives: Natalia Guranda, executive director and legal consultants Irina Punga and Ana Cazacu. The training course agenda will include subjects as: impact evaluation on the environment, strategic evaluation on environment and ecological expertise, the actors involved in the process of impact evaluation on the environment, The public participation in the process of IEE, the schedule for carrying out and the report regarding the IEE and the quality assurance of documentation control and IEE procedure.

Both activities are organized by the National Institute of Justice and PA EcoContact in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, in the frame of the Project ,,A green justice for a protected environment and sustainable communities in the Republic of Moldova~   implemented with the support of Sweden.
