Motivation of judgments, American experience

On November 12-14, 2018, at the National Institute of Justice, takes place the professional development course "Motivation of judgments", involving the resource group of young magistrates - future trainers of NIJ, as well as NIJ trainees - candidates for the position of judge.

Diana Scobioala, the NIJ Director and Kevin Lanigan, the representative of the Criminal justice and law enforcement section of the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, welcomed the participants.

Trainers of the training program, federal judges of the United States of America - Dan Aaron Polster, judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and Eduardo Robreno, Senior United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, will address issues related to making a judgment, its relevant elements, the drafting process and the legal reasoning in the motivation of the court decision, etc. At the same time, at the practical activities, the beneficiaries of the course will practice writing and motivating the judgments according to several cases provided by experts.

The event is organized by the National Institute of Justice and the United States Embassy in Moldova and it is a continuation of training sessions conducted in the same format in May 2018.
