To capitalize on the experience gained during their study visit to Bucharest, the trainees of the National Institute of Justice organized, on Monday, 17 November 2025, a knowledge-sharing session. The event, dedicated to colleagues recently admitted to the initial training course, offered a direct and practical perspective on Romania’s judicial system – a reference model in the process of aligning with European Union standards.
The candidates for the positions of judge and prosecutor who took part in the study visit assumed the role of mentors for a day, sharing their most relevant observations and lessons learned. They presented the organization of the admission process at the National Institute of Magistracy, the structure of its study program, as well as the internship stages of INM trainees and their importance in the professional development of future magistrates. Their presentations offered a comprehensive overview of the training pathway of judicial professionals in Romania and highlighted the differences compared to the model implemented at the National Institute of Justice.
In addition, the trainees described the practical activities carried out within the prosecutor’s offices and courts in Bucharest, emphasizing both the similarities and the particular features of criminal investigation and trial procedures in Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Thus, the session created a framework for open dialogue between future judges and prosecutors from both cohorts, transforming the accumulated experiences into a valuable resource for those at the beginning of their careers.
The study visit to the National Institute of Magistracy, courts, and prosecutor’s offices in Bucharest took place between 10-12 November 2025, thanks to the project “Justice Assistance – Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova”, implemented by the Romanian Agency for International Development Cooperation (RoAid) in partnership with the National Institute of Magistracy of Romania, as well as the Council of Europe project “Support to Justice Reform in the Republic of Moldova.”
