The meeting of the Evaluation Committee of the project proposal "Reinforcing national capacities for effective skills-based training of legal professionals" was held online on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.

The project, whose primary beneficiary is the National Institute of Justice, will run for 18 months, from October 2020 to March 2022, and will be implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) with the financial support from the US Government. The aim is to strengthen the capacity of national structures to provide effective, skills-based training for legal professionals in the Republic of Moldova.

The activity of the project will focus on two components: enhancing the NIJ's capacity to incorporate the concepts of research, argumentation and legal writing in the training of justice professionals, as well as strengthening the institutional and technical capacities of the NIJ, including developing the digital side of the provided trainings.

The project is being launched as the national justice system continues to face a number of challenges, and the Covid-19 pandemic is affecting the training of judges and prosecutors.
