NIJ will benefit from new equipment to upgrading its technological capabilities

On Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at the National Institute of Justice, the formal submission of the necessary equipment for technological upgrade took place. The equipment was procured within the project “Support for justice sector reform in Moldova - Reinforcing the National Capacities to Provide Efficient Skills-Based Training for Legal Professionals”, implemented by the United Nations Development Program with the financial assistance of the US Government.

The donation includes an interactive smart board, All-in-One PCs and laptops, network equipment and software licenses, uninterruptible power supplies for the computer room and server, a video camera with accessories for filming exams and process simulations, peripherals and work tools with PC, multi-function printer, etc.

The event was attended by Ecaterina Popa, Interim Director of the NIJ, and Armen Oganesean, head of the Legal Information Center of the NIJ, seconded prosecutor; Kevin Lanigan, Senior Legal Counsel, and Olga Rabei, Legal Program Specialist, US Embassy in Moldova; and Valentin Rosca, project manager, UNDP Moldova.

The interim director of the NIJ, Ecaterina Popa, thanked the partners for the intense collaboration developed over time that has contributed to the modernization of many processes within the NIJ, in particular for the equipment received which will be an important support for the proper performance of training activities intended for NIJ beneficiaries.

The project “Support for justice sector reform in Moldova - Reinforcing the National Capacities to Provide Efficient Skills-Based Training for Legal Professionals”, whose primary beneficiary is the National Institute of Justice, started in October 2020, focusing on two components: NIJ's capacity to incorporate the concepts of research, argumentation and legal writing into the training of professionals in the justice sector, as well as the strengthening of the institutional and technical capacities of the NIJ, including the development of the digital side of the training provided.
