Paper competition entitled "Political pressure on justice in the Republic of Moldova"

On Friday, August 6, 2021, the National Institute of Justice organized the seventh edition of the paper competition for the beneficiaries of the initial training. During this year's competition, entitled "Political Pressure on Justice in the Republic of Moldova", the trainees of the 14th NIJ promotion, candidates to the positions of judge and prosecutor presented 18 multidimensional thematic reports.

The work included interviews with representatives of the national legal system, statistical data analysis of the phenomenon of political pressure and relevant legal solutions. Thus, the participants responded to the tasks of defining the concept and determining the modalities of political pressure on justice, identifying the subjects and groups that exert political pressure, as well as their possible legal liability, establishing and proposing additional legal guarantees for prosecutors and judges against this kind of pressure and to specify the role of the SCP and the SCM in such cases.

Reports of the trainees were evaluated by the members of the jury: Diana Scobioala, Director of the National Institute of Justice, Angela Motuzoc, President of the Superior Council of Prosecutors, Cornelia Cozonac, President of the Center of Investigative Journalism, and Victoria Sanduta, Judge, President of the Association of Judges "The Voice of Justice”, which took into account the originality of the form of presentation, the correct use of terms, problematization, argumentation and the use of legal terminology.

At the end of the competition, following the deliberation, the jury designated the winning teams:
