Professionals in the justice sector can benefit from Matra Rule of Law training programme

The National Institute of Justice was visited on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, by Rick Lawson, a doctor of law, professor at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, to have a meeting with Ecaterina Popa, ad interim Director of the National Institute of Justice. On behalf of the NIJ, Olga Marandici, advisor to the NIJ Director, head of the International Relations Section, also attended the meeting.

The topic of the discussions was the Matra Rule of Law project, IVth edition. In order to strengthen the institutional capacities of governmental organizations from several countries, including the Republic of Moldova, within this project are organized trainings in hybrid format, providing public agents and justice sector representatives with best practices on a wide range of rule of law topics.

In particular, the parties addressed issues related to the experience of the National Institute of Justice in judicial training of its beneficiaries and the collaboration within the new edition of the project, in the selection of the right candidates for the courses that will be announced.

The Matra Rule of Law programme is designed and delivered by the Netherlands Helsinki Committee, the Leiden Faculty of Law and the Hague Academy for Local Government, financed by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
