Public lesson supported by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Moldova

Monday, May 22, 2023, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Moldova, E.S. Cristian-Leon Turcanu, held a public lesson in front of the trainees of the National Institute of Justice. The generic of the event was „The importance and benefits of a close and constructive relationship between Romania and the Republic of Moldova in terms of judicial sector reform and the strengthening of the rule of law”.

In the opening, Ecaterina Popa, ad interim Director of NIJ, thanked His Excellency for his willingness to share his experience regarding the interstate relationship established over the years between Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

During the public lesson, His Excellency referred to Romania's experience in the process of reforming the justice system, which required adjustments over 25 years to have expected results, as well as the dynamics of the last period of bilateral cooperation between the countries on the two banks of the Prut, in advancing the European path of the Republic of Moldova, including the field of justice. Inter alia, was mentioned the importance of creating, at the initiative of Romania, Germany and France, the Support Platform for the Republic of Moldova, which seeks to generate immediate political, financial and material assistance, as well as in-depth expertise in the democratic reform process by the institutions and Member States of the European Union, the G7 countries, international financial institutions and international organizations, as well as other development partners.
