Two other seminars organized by the NIM in which the NIJ beneficiaries participate

During October 20-21, 2022, in Bucharest the NIJ beneficiaries had the occasion to participate at two seminars – ,,Combating of discrimination. Hate crimes” and ,,Specific probation in cases of sexual assault on minors” – organized by the National Institute of Magistracy, Romania.

Perceptions and experiences toward discrimination, prejudice and hate crimes, Romanian, European Court of Justice and European Court of Human Rights case-law, including casuistry of the National Council for Combating Discrimination, focusing on combating acts of violence or harassment of journalists, right to non-discrimination, freedom of expression and its limits in European and national practice were through the subjects discussed at the ,,Combating of discrimination. Hate crimes” seminar.

The training objectives of the second seminar targeted the modern research methods of criminal cases with minors that supposes a specific probation, assimilation of hearing techniques of minors, by knowledge and appliance of different aspects from children psychological area, examples of good practices regarding the handling of such cases in multidisciplinary teams etc. We mention that the training on,, Specific probation in cases of sexual assault on minors” will be in November where another group of NIJ beneficiaries will take part.

The participation of the national law representatives at these trainings activities took place within the project ”Strengthening the justice system by organizing expertise transfer missions addressed to judges and prosecutors from the Republic of Moldova”, implemented by the National Institute of Magistracy due to the support of the Agency for International Development Cooperation (RoAid), under the coordination of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, due to the support provided for the judicial system reform. The cooperation directions of the project concern the involvement of judges and prosecutors from the Republic of Moldova in professional development activities organized by the NIM, study visits to institutions within the Romanian judicial system, as well as the invitation as experts of NIM trainers to trainings for Moldovan magistrates.
