The NIJ awarded the winners of the 4th edition of the National Contest of Young Lawyers

At the National Institute of Justice were awarded the winners of the 4th edition of the National Contest of Young Lawyers, which took place between March 2, and 22, 2019. The Final of the competition, where the best students of the law faculties in the country have demonstrated their legal knowledge, oratory skills and the technique of argumentation took place on Friday, March 22, 2019.

The NIJ Director, Diana Scobioala, appreciated the importance of organizing such activities, mentioning that the National Institute of Justice, in the training of future judges and prosecutors, uses simulation exercises to develop skills indispensable to the chosen profession. At the same time, Ms. Director invited those present to take part in the admission contest at the National Institute of Justice if they want to embrace the career of judge or prosecutor.

In the final stage of the contest, three civil law teams and three criminal law teams, having as tutors the trainees of the National Institute of Justice, Fulga Grabovschi and Domnita Vizdoaga, simulated court trials, demonstrating the necessary knowledge and skills, such as and the ability to formulate thoughts convincingly and act in accordance with legal/ethical norms.

Judges of the Contest chose the winners depending on their personal performance and demonstrated skills. Thus, in the civil law category, the winner is Maria Gogu, 2nd place – Dana Gricenco, 3rd place – Ecaterina Maliuta, and in the criminal law category the winner is Svetlana Bratescu, 2nd place – Ion Gulei, 3rd place – Iulia Ghetivu. The finalists will have the opportunity to do a three-month internship, with the possibility to be hired by the partner companies of the contest.

The National Contest of Young Lawyers, the 4th edition, was organized in partnership by the Legal Consulting Company "Brodsky Uskov Looper Reed & Partners", the National Institute of Justice, ELSA Republic of Moldova and the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova. At the competition were registered 60 students from law schools in the Republic of Moldova, the license cycle, the master cycle and the graduates of 2018.
