The event was attended by the Director of the National Institute of Justice, Diana Scobioala, and Valentina Contescu, the advisor of the Director.

After the first part of the session, the representatives of the participating institutions from the Republic of Moldova continued their work at the headquarters of the similar institutions from Romania.

During the bilateral discussions, the parties analyzed the evolution of the joint activities and established the development directions of the collaboration relations for the future. Diana Scobioala has appreciated the availability of the National Institute of Magistracy of Romania to facilitate the participation of the NIJ trainees at the training activities organized through the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN), but also the participation of the future magistrates from Romania and Republic of Moldova at the paper competition on the evolution of the law systems of both states during the last hundred years, which will take place on 28-29 June.

Also, the representatives of the judicial training institutions emphasized certain deficiencies in the legal framework referring to the possibility of Moldovan trainees to undertake internships in Romania.

The parties reiterated the need of ensuring the continuity of the established collaboration on the initial training dimension, intended to increase the quality standards of the training and to promote a high quality training of the future magistrates, but also to continue the exchange of experience through consultations between both institutions’ representatives and trainers and to maintain the collaboration by means of exchange of documents, scientific researches, analytical and conceptual materials and other documents and normative acts.

After the bilateral meetings of the representatives of the Republic of Moldova’s institutions with their Romanian counterparts, the session of the Intergovernmental Commission was officially closed with a presentation of the cooperation priorities established within the thematic working groups.

The fourth session of the Intergovernmental Commission for European Integration was organized in May 2017, in Chisinau.
