At the NIJ was launched the Guide on Effective Court Administration

On Friday, May 5, 2023, at the National Institute of Justice was launched the Guide on the administration and operation of the courts, developed by USAID Moldova within the project “Model courts”. The event brought together presidents, deputy presidents and heads of the court secretariats from all the country.

In the opening session, Ecaterina Popa, ad interim director of the National Institute of Justice, emphasized the importance of the guide as a course support both for the training of future judges and prosecutors, as well as for the continuous training of presidents, deputy presidents, the heads of the court secretariats in the field of the courts management or in other related fields.

Also, during the launch event, Otilia Bogdan-Vieru, Justice Specialist, Office for Democracy and Governance, USAID Mission in Moldova, Tatiana Ciaglic, Member of the Superior Council of Magistracy, Sorin Popescu, Director of the Agency for the Administration of the courts, Natalia Vîlcu, Director of the project “Model courts”, were present, as well as, via online, international experts in court administration and judicial management – Norman Mayer and Janet Cornell.

The Guide on administration and operation of the courts is a revised and adapted edition of the previous versions from 2015 and 2018. The purpose of the guide is to contribute to increasing the efficiency of the courts administration by providing information support for their management, in the process of carrying out the operational and administrative activity of the courts.
