The National Institute of Justice continues to provide professional training courses online. On Thursday, May 14, 2020, were held simultaneously four continuous training activities, attended by judges, prosecutors, legal assistants, and clerks.
The workshop "The rights of victims of crimes to rehabilitation and compensation in the national context (Law no. 137/2016)" was organized by the National Institute of Justice in partnership with the OSCE Mission to Moldova, having as trainers the experts: Viorel Ciobanu, prosecutor, the General Prosecutor's Office, Maria Ghervas, judge, the Supreme Court of Justice, and Tatiana Catana, lawyer. The agenda of the workshop included the following topics: "Restorative justice. The victim's right to assistance and support according to international standards", "The rights of the victim in criminal proceedings", "Rules of assistance and protection applied to certain categories of victims", "The attitude of the judiciary (police, prosecutors, judges, lawyers) towards the victims", "Victims' rights to redress and compensation from the state for damage caused by crime". Also, were analyzed cases from the work experience of the prosecutor, judge and lawyer of the victims.
The identification and analysis of regulations in the energy sector, the determination of the particularities of solving energy cases, as well as the establishment of solutions regarding the uniform application and interpretation of national legislation in this segment were the objectives of the seminar "The particularities of dispute settlement in the energy sector". The participants - judges and prosecutors - were trained by Violina Spac, the Director of the National Agency for Energy Regulation; Calin Negura, the head of the Energy Policies Department of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure; Maria Frunze, judge, Chisinau District Court (the Center headquarters); Octavian Iachimovschi, prosecutor, Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office; Daniel Musteata, the head of the Department of Expertise compatibility with European law within the Legislation Harmonization Center.
Another seminar entitled "Conflict Management" was organized by the National Institute of Justice being intended for judges and prosecutors. The trainers of the “Nicolae Dumitrescu” Academy - Diana Vrabie and Camelia Graur aimed to familiarize and sensitize the participants regarding the methods of conflict prevention through an efficient communication model, based on listening and accurate communication.
The legal assistants and the clerks were the beneficiaries of the workshop "Administrative law. The regulations of the new Administrative Code". The NIJ trainer Nicolae Fala, ULIM university professor, BAA "Correct" lawyer, explained the regulations of the Administrative Code with the aim that participants develop skills regarding the application of the technique of subsuming concrete situations in the provisions of the Administrative Code and perform procedural acts in the administrative litigation procedure.
We mention that, during the state of emergency instituted due to the coronavirus pandemic, the National Institute of Justice, on the continuous training segment, conducted 18 webinars, training 357 judges, prosecutors, legal assistants, clerks and consultants of prosecutors. At the same time, nine other distance learning courses, to which over 600 applicants have applied, are currently offered, being provided both on the ILIAS platform of the NIJ and on the HELP platform of the CoE.
